Both the painting and photographic techniques are so tightly coordinated that the end result is an unflat, 2-dimensional space which is able to achieve trompe l'oeil, wherein the third dimension is discernible only within certain places that are close to the eyes, or near hair. Meade frequently blends her painted characters in the 3D world around her. They interact within this self-created universe. The result is a blurring of the lines between photography, painting, and installation.
